My theatre Experiances..


Ø  Studied and practiced Ottanthullal, Kathakali, Chakyarkoothu and folk forms like Kolkali, Arabanamuttu and Oppana in the school days itself. Participated and won certificates of merit in various competitions including school Youth Festivals.

Ø  Studied percussion instrumental music and can play Chenda, Dolak, Mridangam and Edakka.

Ø  Acted in many plays during the school days onwards and won prizes at the District level School Youth Festivals for the best play and for best actor. The career as an actor was continued in college days also and actively participated in the Campus Theatre. Was adjudged with the best actor and the best play awards from Mahathma Gandhi University Drama Festivals in 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Ø  Joined Lokadharmi (formally known as Bhasabheri) at Thripunithura, which is a centre for theatre training and research as an acting student in 1992. This training under Prof: Sri. Chandradasan gave a new dimension in understanding and involvement as a theatre practitioner. The training includes exercises from YOGA under Yogacharya M.S. Asokan, Kathakali under FACT Padmanabhan, Ottanthullal under Kalamandalam Prabhakaran, other traditional forms, improvisations, theatre exercises, mask making and puppetry.

Ø  Got the opportunity to meet and get training from famous theatre activists from all over the world, need special mention. They include Sri. Kavalam Narayana Panicker, Sri. Vayala Vasudeva Pillai (School of Drama), P. Balachandran (School of Letters), Lynn Babcock (USA), Mrs. Erin Mee (USA), Betty Bernhard (USA), Kumara Varma (Chandigarh), Prabhir Guha (Calcutta), Athul Kumar Mittal (New Delhi), Tuire Hindikka & Pirkko Kurikka (Finland), Margi Madhu (Margi), Suresh Anagally (RRC, NSD Bangalore), H.S. Sivaprakash (New Delhi), Gautham Manjumdar (NSD), Pandit Gopal Prasad Dubhe (Chau Dance Performer)

Ø  Participated in a number of Theatre Festivals with productions, that includes International Theatre Olympiad Cuttack- Orrissa (1996, 1997), 3rd All India Multilingual theatre festival at Cuttack- Orrissa (1995), Festival of letters Bangalore (1995), National theatre festival at Thripunithura- Kerala organised by Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy and Lokadharmi (1997), Surya Festival at Trivandram (1997), 13th & 15th Pataliputhra Natya Mahothsava at Patna- Bihar organised by East Zone Cultural centre and Dept: of Bihar (1997, 1999), International Children’s theatre festival at New Delhi (1999) Nataka Bharathi National theatre festival at Eranakulam organised by Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy (2000), Multi Lingual Theatre Festival at Ahammadabad- Gujrath (2001), The National Theatre Festival- Bharatha Ranga Mahothsav- Conducted by NSD- New Delhi (2002) etc; with different productions.

Ø  Participated in the ‘Ancient Greek Drama Festival’ at Greece with a Greek play “MEDEA” of Euripides, representing India in 2001.

Ø  Organised and participated in a number of Theatre workshops as a trainer, resource person and a demonstrator. Also was a director of the Workshop for children ‘Kuttikalude nataka kalari- 2000 organised by Lokadharmi at Thripunithura.

Ø  Participated in more than 40 different productions as an Actor, Musician, Set designer and art director.
